Best MMORPG Games To Play
1. DC Universe Online
The DC Universe Online game is a MMORPG game which is unique due the fact that along with the regular Role Play it has the original DC characters alongside your character.
Now if you tell me there is anything cooler and more exciting than playing / fighting alongside Batman and The Flash, I will have to ask you think again. They even have the DC original villains like – you guessed it The Joker himself! You will be fighting against The Joker, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, Darkseid, Sinestro, Circe and many more. The game does not take shift the focus from you to any of the other characters even if Superman is a part of the mission. Your character is the hero who has to save the day. Maybe I’m a bit biased being a loyal DC fan and all, but this game definitely beats all others in this same league, with killer graphics and rich character range. The game has various templates to help you build a character. The thrilling part here is that the character does not have to be a superhero. It can just as well be a villain. You can choose to engage in combat with any character of your choice. This and much more awaits you on the DC universe game.
2. World of Warcraft
Talking about the MMORPG genre and not mentioning this game is like talking about fruits and not mentioning apples. World of Warcraft may have been around for a while longer than the other games in this list, but it has never once faltered with the gaming experience. The developers Blizzard have made more than 20 million with each expansion. Battle of Azeroth is still a strong contender for bringing back the subscribers they lost last year. World of Warcraft has interesting levels with performance enhancing tools. The missions are not boring at all. There is never a dull moment and everything is so intense and you do not want to pause no matter how bad your hand is cramping because if you do you might miss that dungeon! The new expansion is cheaper then originally estimated so that is a treat for the players. Graphics and resolution wise it gives you a run for your money. You won’t be disappointed with the levels as they are quite exciting as they progress.
3. Lord of the rings Online
The Lord Of The Rings is already a huge name that doesn’t need an introduction – be it books or movies. Same is the case with the game. It has enraptured the middle earth as well as you could imagine it, if not better. You can see all the elements from the books in this game and moat importantly you can battle against Sauron to save the day. The LOTR franchise is deeply impactful for the new age nerds like me and therefore the chance to experience it through this game is no short of awesome. The expansions may cost you a little but the base version of the game is free. It gives you access to everything and you can do a bunch of different middle earth stuff. The expansion or paid level just adds a few destiny points ( VIP feature ) and a few gimmicks other than that. But the basic version is great if you are looking just for the LOTR experience.
4. TERA
This game is here in the league with the big ones because it has a very different but realistic approach to combat. It does not have you engaged in psychosomatically satisfying pseudo combat. It let’s you plan and time your attacks, work with your teammates, and then lead an assault. It has a set up where you have to go against an alien race and save the planet from them so the pressure points are near realistic.
5. Dungeons and Dragons online
This is the perfect example of tradition meets technology. Dungeons and Dragons is a classic that all of us have played at some point its so captivating with all its monsters, heroes and schematics. Well you don’t have to memorize the scrolls anymore. The D & D online allows you to take this game to the virtual reality.
6. Elder Scrolls Online
This the multi player version of the super hit Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim. It has all of the signature series elements along with a liberty to play multiplayer now. Just like Skyrim, this version also works with the first-person point of view or third person point of view. The combat transformation is smooth and fluid. The t Elder Scroll fans along with MMORPG fanatics are loving this 2014 release and it has not lost its popularity over the years in any way.
7. Star Wars : The Old Republic
Star Wars isn’t a series or a fandom, it’s an epidemic. If you haven’t been affected yet, you will be sooner or later. This game lets you play in the Star Wars universe. You can demolish galaxies with your light sabre or vanquish species with the help of your partner, which of course will be an online player. The story of the game revolves around the same time as Anakin realized his powers and decided to use them in the wrong way, for the wrong reasons. In the game you have to clash your saber against that of the First Order. The Dark Side is on the loose and you have go stop it from taking over. May the force be with you. On a serious note, this is a great game for beginner MMORPG players.
8. Final Fantasy XIV : A Realm Reborn
I know what you’re thinking. Why is this World of Warcraft “ inspired” game in this list? The reason is because this game has quite a few tricks up its sleeves that the World of Warcraft doesn’t offer. This game also has beautiful graphics and a very appealing set up. The highlight is the great combat levels and the crafters. It is different from the other games in this list in developing more appealing and conventionally pleasant characters. This game has the option of switching your class based on whichever weapon you choose. If you don’t want to play a dark game but still want the MMORPG experience, go check it out.
9. Guild Wars 2
This game is fairly between new and old. It’s not a classic yet its not a new entry. The fact that it has an array of diffident engaging tasks in every landscape is what makes this game so very attention worthy. It also has an intricate and efficient crafting system, which is well thought out and perfectly laid level wise. The speed in which the combat takes place is higher than other games in this category. This maybe nerve wracking for some but its thrilling for moat gamers.
10. EVE online
Whoever said that gamers aren’t smart people needs to play EVE online. This game is so cleverly developed that you will need a minute to soak it all in. The graphics are in depth and thus make it very realistic. The combat needs a tight knit team with good coordinating abilities which means you have to be able to work well with other people. The role playing is constituted smoothly and each element is well thought and put together. Combat skills are tested with the intensity increasing by every level.
11. Aion
In my opinion, Aion is a one of a kind MMORPG. It has flight based PvP combat. The arena is wonderful. It’s called the Abyss which I quite like. The flight ability is a bonus which swings the outcome of every instance that you engage in combat. The landscaping is done so beautifully that you’d want to fake a break and just gaze. The combat evolves with the completion of every level. This game was released almost 10 years ago. But its still gaining popularity today with its layers of dimensions and visuals that are made to please.
12. Neverwinter
Neverwinter is the magical city extracted straight from the world of Dragons And Dungeons. It has all the mythical elements but instead it’s a one up on the classic D & D and has the elements which will make it feel not so traditional. It has the most exquisite elements of the Forgotten Realms that have been tweaked to for the theme. The combat style is derbies from the analogue D & D and is generally a fast – paced , engaging experience. The mechanics are astonishingly accurate. My favorite little gimmick is that bruiser warriors can gain the abilities that are similar to wizardry spells. The elements are small and detailed and they help in maintaining the intrigue of the game.
13. Rift
I find the name of the game rather mysterious and enchanting. This particular game has well built and developed characters that are well incorporated into the story rather than randomly popping out with no intent whatsoever. Design is another feature that has been well done if not very well done. The levelling is optional – if you want to focus all your point on one skill or if you want to distribute them. The events and Rifts ( inter dimensional portals ) are dependent on the frequency of players and also the level that you are on. This is another game that requires immense teamwork because it has a strong sense if was between dimensions and the players are henceforth required to group and convene.
14. Star Trek Online
Another one of the series turned games, Star Trek Online is no different than the series itself. The graphics and all of the elements are very similar. This has thee gameplay divided into two parts – third person shooter and naval simulator in space. The spaceships and aliens are every Star Trek fan’s fantasy. The Borg cubes, Deep Space nine and basically all other important elements from the series are revived here to make you feel at home. The latest expansion is based on the Alpha Quadrant and gives you a fresh storyline compared to the base version. The fanatics have responded rather well to the expansions so far so the reaction to this one will be positive as well hopefully.
15. Runescape
Release wise, this is the oldest one here. It was released 17 years ago. This had to be on this list because of the impact it still has despite a long run and many games to bump into it. This game has had 250 million players and even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the MMO with the longest play time per player. Now that has to count for something right? A non – browser version was launched last year and even though this one might not be on top of its game ( pun intended ) it certainly is one if the MMORPGs that are worth playing. This game and its graphics rocked the market upon its release and even today they make gamers gaze in wonder. Even if not as the best possible game, this still has to go down as one of the first MMORPGs and is a must try.
