Review of ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser

November 1, 2015 by Nitin Maheta

If you are looking for an affordable smartphone under the price range of 10K, then we have one of the best and efficient smartphones by ASUS, Zenfone 2 Laser. Though it doesn’t really come up with striking specs and features, but has got the best camera under this price range. And this is not just because of its auto-focus system feature, but because of its laser assisted auto-focus. ASUS has managed to tweak and add some new features to its Zenfone series smartphone to make them stand out differently from others. This smartphone has created ripples in the market before its launch in the market. The company has introduced different variants of Laser, one with a 4GB RAM. So, today I am here with the review of ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser to find out what’s better in this smartphone than the rest.

Camera

The camera is the most prominent feature of ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser. It features 13 MP rear camera with a laser assisted autofocus, which works amazingly. The pictures clicked form this smartphone features very good colour saturation and details. The pictures clicked even have impressive and dynamic depth and range. The camera takes images really well even in low light and night time conditions, but it does take long processing time while making videos. The camera software on this smartphone offers its users with tons of presets, settings and tweaks. No doubt, in the camera department, Zenfone 2 Laser is the best one among all its competitors. It gives better image quality with the reasonable price tag. The actual work of the laser auto-focus feature is to make the focusing quite faster than in the other smartphones.

Design and Build

ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser- Backside
Without making any harsh words about its design and build, I would simply say that it has the same design which has been used blatantly by ASUS in its previous smartphones. Yes, I earlier said that ASUS has made few changes in this smartphone, but they only tweaked its spec sheet for making it stand out from other smartphones. With its same design, it is a little hard to distinguish between the Zenfone 2 models, without taking a closer look.

Display and User Interface (UI)

ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser-review
We have the same 5.5 inch display, but with this price tag, the sharpness and decent viewing angles with good saturation is highly affordable. It has everything which we all can expect from the ASUS smartphones. Obviously, the ZenUI is too, same as well like the previous ASUS Zenfones, so there is nothing much new to talk about in this department.

Performance

We have some changes in this department now. Though, Zenfone 2 Laser features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC, which is the weakest right now and made this smartphone fall under the price range of 10K. But, fortunately, this processor works well, though it is not a performer. Tasks like, gaming shows the shortcomings of this smartphone, but it really well carries all the day-to-day tasks. It lags slightly and even seems to be less under-powered than the Meizu M2 Note and YU Yureka Plus. The audio and calling feature performs well enough.

Battery

Zenfone 2 Laser features a 3000mAH battery, which is another plus point after its Camera. The battery lasts for a day, but with moderate usage. Though, gaming doesn’t drain the battery of this smartphone quickly, but it is quite respectable to have a battery conservation. It does allow the users to change the settings, wherein the phone can survive for a full day long. Normally, the battery gets through for about 8-9 hours.

Verdict

Overall, Zenfone 2 Laser has got an amazing camera with a long-lasting battery and a sturdy build. It is the choice for those who specifically look for a good looking smartphone with a nice camera. As compared to its rivals, it lags behind as well as doesn’t perform well too. If you have the biggest priority for the camera, then it is the best smartphone to buy.
