April 13, 2014 by Nitin Maheta

Many of you might have back pain or gone through it which force you to make a visit to a doctor. There are many reasons which lead to it. People sitting in front of computer continuously can go through it or due to improper posture of sitting or any other accidental injury. It may even occur due to diseases such as arthritis (inflammation of one or more joints), fibromyalgia (a disorder that causes muscle pain and fatigue), and spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal that may occur in any part of the spine). Even overweight is one of the reasons for getting back pain.

Exercise

Exercising is the first and the foremost thing to be done to get rid of any disease and so is for back pain. Having physical activity is the best remedy for back pain. Putting your body in the upright position and taking breaks from continuous sitting posture is the best way to get rid of back pain which you can do by walking or any other simple exercise. It is best if you consult your physician for the type of pain and get suggestion for the low-impact exercise suitable for that type as well as your age.

Stretch

Stretching makes you flexible. So how much you stretch that you are benefited. But do not stretch to a great extent. Always try to stretch yourself whenever you start any exercise or before any strenuous physical activity and also before bed.

Sleep well

Always prefer a firm surface whenever you lie on your back rather opting for soft mattress to get relief from back pain. You must avoid soft mattress as it pushes your back out of alignment. You can even lie on your side to shrink any curve in your spine.

Maintenance of posture is very important. Wrong posture may lead to back pain or any other health issues. For example, while standing balance your weight on your feet. Be sure that your feet are shoulder width apart and your knees slightly relaxed with your shoulder in a straight line with your ears and hips.

While sitting you must prefer the chair that is designed to keep your back straight. Take breaks from your sitting posture for regular intervals of time.

Maintenance of healthy weight

Don’t eat too much processed food as it results in excessive weight. Despite this have a healthy diet consisting of fruits and vegetables. Try to eat maximum of raw food because cooked food loses its nutritional value. Staying feet is the best remedy for back pain as extra pounds may stress your back causing further problem.

Quit smoking

Not just only it damages your lungs but impairs your back too. This is because it stops blood flow to the lower spine and causes the spinal discs to degenerate.
