Reasons Why Fear is a Waste of Time and Energy

January 1, 2019 by Nitin Maheta

Fear in humans can be very subtly hidden and can take a significant toll on our life. This article brings to you the reasons why fear is, after all, a blatant waste of time and energy. With proper monitoring of our mental health activities, we can overcome any possible fear that we have.

It is often said that fear is intrinsic, as in cases of phobias and traumas. These phobias might result from incidents but you can surely overcome them by realising the causes and innate conditions of fear. It might leave you frozen in terms of thinking and very often wastes a great deal of time and energy.

The cause of fear of an event or object arises due to repetitive thought of the possible event and its circumstances. Let’s have a look at the reasons that will let you know why fear is a clear waste of time and energy.

Your fear might not strictly be real even though it feels like it is

Fear is centred around possibilities and their direct consequences. This is what affects our mental health. However, you need to understand that the fear you have in yourself might just be because of your overthinking. This fear might not have a relation to anything real.

This is why anxiety is often linked to being stressed. In addition to poisoning our days, it can also take a toll on our health due to the increasing levels of adrenaline in our blood. It is best to leave the future to its designated time and trust on our instincts rather than to worry and waste our precious peace of mind.

What you’re scared of won’t even be happening

The fear of a probable event can be deep-rooted and can affect our entire day, even days to come. Our anxious minds can overthink and replay the events. Yet, in reality, the event might not even happen in the near future. It is well advised to let the event rest to the future and not spend such a great deal of time and energy on a possibility and its outcomes.

Even if it might happen, it probably won’t be that dreadful

We see that the event that has been centred around our head and tormenting us finally happens. This thought, days ago, would’ve given a fearsome time, but then at that present situation, you finally respond better than you thought you would. As a result, your confidence level increases and you lose all fear relating to the outcomes of the event. It happens most of the times that our fears do not result in the same negative situations that we’ve been imagining.

Having your rational self back again, you realise that the days of worrying yourself was ultimately a big waste of time, energy and mental health. You indeed were taking yourself less of a woman/man you turned out to be. Such a valuable lesson teaches you the cons of fear and how one can be of dealing with adverse situations.

You will not gain anything stressing yourself up out of fear

Taking unnecessary mental burden because of fear can exhaust you mentally. This is why you need to understand that there’s no possible benefit of getting stressed due to fear. You just won’t be able to change the happening whether you’re scared of the result or not.

The practice of culturing the stress, that is the direct result of overthinking, can make a difficult time for yourself. After the event has occurred, you’ll notice that the fear and its consequent did nothing to help you prepare yourself for it. Thus, the fear was unasked for and the sooner we learn to control it, the better off we are at dealing with situations.

Your fear will limit your full potential

What fear directly influences is our performance. Because of fear, we take ourselves for less than what we can do, and this takes a toll on our ability to deal with any situation. Fear and its stresses can be avoided if we are confident of ourselves, and we trust our capabilities to deal with any situation whatever it may be.

Try limiting your fears and taming your mind before one such instance, and watch yourself transform to your full potential of dealing with it when it actually happens. This allows you to build upon your confidence and gives no space for building fears the next time.

It is not possible to completely get rid of all your fears

It is our natural instinct, worn down by seeds of evolution that were of prime importance to our survival. Fear in animals lets them know where danger and death are lurking, and this is crucial for their survival. In humans too, fear and resistance are important, but overthinking and stressing over it is not. We need to monitor our mental health and acknowledge its existence to get rid of our fears.

Acceptance, and then choosing to control the effects of fear can finally bring you to peace and help control of your mind. It shall also help you deal with situations and stay better focussed at tackling them.

Too much fear takes a toll on the physical and mental health

Anything beyond its permissible naturally inclusive iota becomes unhealthy after one point of time. The same is with fear– too much of it can potentially destroy your peace of mind. Holding stress in oneself can become an addiction, and it will not be before long, that you start thinking that every fear has the strength to potentially collapse you and you are unable to do anything but watch. Fear, in any form, shouldn’t be cultured. It’s best to leave the future to its designated time and focus on the present happenings.
