When you go into 192.168.1.1 using your web browser, You will be asked to enter a Username and Password when you are logging in from a Linksys, Netgear or D-Link wireless routers. The 192.168.1.1 is the IP Address which the router uses to connect devices to the network and access internet. But when you connect your router through the help of a browser, You will be asked about the username and password for accessing and modifying the administrative privileges.
You could leave the username blank if you wanted and continue to even keep the default password if wanted. If the router default password has been changed, Then you might need to know and aware of the changed password.

When you use a Linksys WIFI Router, Make sure you check all the default user credentials based on the Username and password that matches to your wifi router. You should always make sure to change your wifi router password and username from time to time so that it promises your security. You could always reset the wifi router to its factory settings and password, Just in case if you forgot the password for it.
Resetting the Wireless router settings will also delete all the settings which you customized specifically for your wireless router. It will automatically delete your username and password too. You need to again customize the settings like wireless network settings, DNS Servers, Port forwarding, and SSID too.
You could always store your router username and password on a free password manager so just in case you will not be forgetting it.
