Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich):

If you are using android 4.0 or later then it is easy to take screenshot on your android phone. all you will need to do is just hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at once. then you will get an animated notification on your screen, notify you that screenshot was saved on your device. Android will save your screenshots to gallery , just open up the gallery app, tap screenshots to view and share the screenshots with your friends.

Android SDK:

You can also take screenshots from any android device through android SDK. Once you’ve set up the android SDK, connect your android device to your computer with its USB cable then fire up the SDK .This is most user-friendly application to set up as well as it easy to use once you set it up.

AShot is a free screenshot capture tool that allows users to take screen image of their android device from computer. It requires the android SDK installed on your android device with properly configured. It has variety of advantages over the android SDK screenshot feature, near-real-time streaming of your android screen to the Ashot app on your PC.
