Build Quality

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) has got a new body design which looks quite stunning and is available in two color variants, Midnight Black (almost seems Navy Blue) and Grey. With its metal back body and rounded edges, it comfortably fits in one hand as well. It has a solid aluminum body but pulls in a lot of smudges, which is a kind of a drawback.

The buttons, outer frame, upper and bottom ends of the smartphone are made of polycarbonate. The navigation keys of this smartphone are made available on-screen along with a not-to fast fingerprint scanner and 2.5D curved glass. It comes with a micro-SD slot with two slots for 4G SIM cards. Presently, it is the slimmest smartphone available in the market.

It has a subjective design as it looks similar to an iPhone, yet we liked it both in terms of feel and looks. So, we should welcome this pretty change in our mid-range smartphone segments.

Display

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) features a 5.99-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, similar to Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 twins. This display size fits perfectly in hands. It gives an amazing experience of viewing games and videos in high-resolution, all thanks to its 1080×2160 pixel resolution.

Also, this smartphone provides its users with a great viewing experience with its 450nit brightness levels. Apart from this, it has got wide viewing angles with a vibrant display. The only issue we faced while using ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) is under direct sunlight.

Software

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) comes with a stock Android Oreo with custom ZenUI software. In simple words, this is not an Android One smartphone and thus, offers some custom features. The company has even promised to give at least two software updates as soon as Google is out with the same. It has got improved RAM management with neat battery saving tricks.

Camera

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) comes with a rear dual-camera setup, that it with 13+5 megapixels. It quickly captures the pictures in the daylight maintaining the vibrant beauty. What we missed with this good-looking smartphone is the ASUS PixelMaster Camera UI which did give the users some functions.

But, never mind, as it has an entirely clean interface and has a few useful options which can be used for clicking good pictures. The pictures clicked from ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) come with sharp details and vibrantly popping colors. Even you can have a bokeh effect on your images using its depth mode.

The only drawback in this segment is that the pictures come out little blurry in low light. And then we have its front 8-megapixel camera which manages to capture quality images with its flash. YES! It’s own flash help the users in clicking great shots even in low light and daylight selfies comes out with decent and vibrant colors.

Performance

Considering the price of ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1), it has a tremendous and robust combo of latest Android with powerful hardware. And this is the first time where ASUS ditched ZEN UI and kept it stock Android.

Isn’t it a right decision? YES! It is actually.

This smartphone runs smoothly and has got amazing games and apps as well. You won’t face any glitches or any performance lag using this smartphone. The only drawback here we can say is the distorting sound of the music at full volume from the speaker at the bottom.

Battery

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) comes with 5000mAh battery which allows it to lasts for full two days only for moderate usage. Apart from this, considering it for heavy gaming and videos viewing with medium volume, it lasts for around 14 hours with a single charge. Ah! A decent one. No?
