The battery is one of the most important components of a portable device. Most of the users rely heavily on their device’s power backup. • Perform some basic hardware troubleshooting
  • Update your battery driver
  • Perform battery reset
  • Update the BIOS
  • Conclusion

Perform some basic hardware troubleshooting

Usually, we can attribute most of the battery issues to hardware glitches. Therefore, perform some self troubleshooting procedures to handle any preliminary defaults. Discussed below are some of the actions you can take for hardware troubleshooting.

  • Ensure that the power socket you are using is in working condition. For this purpose, you can plug in some other device to cross-check.
  • Ensure that the charger plug is firmly locked in place. You can also rotate the cable in its place to hit the sweet spot.
  • Ensure that your battery is tightly fixed in its socket. Use the dual levers on the rear end to pull the battery and readjust it into its place.
  • Ensure that the charging port is completely clean. Sometimes, layers of dust hamper the current transmission.
  • Check for overheating when the charger is plugged in. If the laptop overheats, pull out the battery and allow it to cool down before putting it back into its place.

Update your battery driver

Once you are convinced that hardware is functioning properly, start looking for software glitches. Battery drivers are central to battery software optimization. If you are on an outdated driver, the battery charging might be malfunctioning.

For this reason, click on the windows button on the bottom left corner of the screen. Next, click on the control panel icon. In the control panel window, look for the “System Driver” option and click on it.

Next, you will be redirected to a complete list of installed drivers. In the given list, click on the battery driver option. A dialog box will appear. Look for the “update and install” button at the bottom of the prompt and click on it.

Perform battery reset

Battery reset is very handy in case none of the above solutions are working. Discussed below are steps to reset your battery.

  • End all the ongoing tasks, clear RAM, and turn off your laptop.
  • Switch off the power source and remove the plug from the socket. Also, remove the charging pin from the charging point. Next, remove the battery from the socket if it’s irremovable.
  • Press and hold the power button for a while. This will drain out any extra electricity from the system.
  • Use a sharp pin to press the battery reset button on the battery. Next, put the battery back into its place and restart your system.

Update the BIOS

BIOS update can instantly fix your system’s battery issue. Here is how you can update your system’s BIOS.

  • On your keyboard, press the Windows key and the R key. This will open up the “Run” prompt. In the textbox, type msinfo32 and press enter.
  • In the version/date section of the information, go to Acer’s official website.
  • On the website, look for any latest available BIOS downloads, and install them to your system.
  • Ensure that your system is plugged into the power source correctly, then restart your system. This will most likely resolve your battery performance issue.
