How to control your anger and stress

Stress and anger are the two sides of a single coin. With one of these, the other comes uninvited. Although anger is a natural emotion, too much of it can prove to be harmful for an individual.

In today’s competitive world of rat race both of these things are nearly unavoidable. Whether it is the workload that is stressing you out or something personal, whenever this stress is not released in the right way, it comes out as anger.

Anger and stress can not only mess with your headspace but also harm your health physically.

In this situation it becomes very necessary to control our levels of stress and anger in order to lead a healthy life. We cannot regulate the levels of external tension that we are subjected to in our day to day life. However, to control the levels of stress and anger, we have to deal with something that we can determine.

The following steps might help you to calm down in times of crisis, instantly. You need to realize these points and follow them in real life so as to avoid getting into any troublesome situation because of your anger issues.

Recognize your signs

The first step to calming down or reducing your anger or stress is to recognize the factors that are making you angry. You also need to figure out how you react to the situation. Different people might have different reactions to being angry or stressed. While some people might shout or explode others might shut themselves up when stressed. Without recognising the signs of anger, you would have a tough time curbing this habit.


Breathe deep and slow

Next up, you need to realize that being stressed or angry exerts a lot of pressure on your mind and body equally. It is quite necessary to allow yourself to breathe slowly and deeply once you realize that you’re stressed.

Breathing deeply brings in more oxygen to your lungs, thus helping in the overall functioning of the body is an emergency situation. So, next time something triggers you up, your need to be conscious enough to allow yourself to breathe so as to let that anger fade away.


Count to ten

We all know this. Counting to ten or counting backwards is nothing but giving your mind the chance and time to slow down and concentrate somewhere other than the point of stress. This gives you the chance to think before you speak or do something while you’re angry. Speaking or doing something in a stressful situation without giving in much thoughts can only make the matter worse.

So, before you spoil the situation anymore: count to ten. This way you will be able to come out of a chaotic situation in a fairly simple manner that requires minimal efforts from your side.

Controlling anger and stress in the long run can help you maintain a good health. However, it might come out a little tricky to actually go through the process. By staying determined and having a strong will, you can definitely work this out and maintain your calm.

The following steps could help you calm your anger and stress down on a long term basis. Let’s get started.

Exercise

Exercising on a regular basis can help you by keeping your body parameters in a decent shape. A good body gives you a healthy mind. To ensure that your stress does not originate inside you, you also need to take care of yourself by doing whatever it takes.

Exercising regularly keeps your cells relaxed and strengthens your system so as to increase its tolerance level. So, you need to ensure that take out take from your busy schedule for exercising hours.


Creative time

To keep your mind and body free from stress you need to find a hobby or an activity that you love to indulge in apart from your working hours. There need not be hard and fast rules for your creative time. You can always switch to something new. Be it reading a book or be it strolling in the backyard, does not matter. As long as it serves the purpose of relieving you of your daily stress and frustration, it is good enough.


Talk it out

Keeping everything inside yourself can be the root cause of your stress and anger. There is no practical need to take all the mess that the world throws at you to yourself. You can always talk it out. Find your safe haven, a person who you can talk to without having to fear being judged.

You can also write your feelings down in case you do not find a suitable person to listen you out.
However, talking is a better means. You can seek help from a psychological therapist in such a situation. They are professionals who not only hear you out but also help you by suggesting you ways out of your stress against a remuneration.


Let go

You can only be actually stress-free if and only if you let go of a certain things that cause you stress. Holding on to harsh or sour feelings for a long time against something or someone can eventually harm your peace of mind. Thus, creating a chaos and causing you stress. This can not only disturb you mentally but also disrupts your physical health. It is very essential that you let go if these things.
