How to Use Google DMCA to Report Copyright Violations

Its someone using your intellectual property and posting it on their sites without your permission? Well it definitely hurts. Content copying is very common these days. People copy articles, posts, reviews, etc. from other sites without asking their permission or credit backlinks. The question now at hand is what can we do about it?

Below are few steps which will help you through the process of reporting copyright violations.

If you want to find where your posts or articles get copied, then search for the keyword plagiarism check in GOOGLE and then a number of plagiarism detector sites will be displayed. First, try to contact the person who is copying your content and ask him to take down the post. If it doesn’t work then just go to the link displayed below:

Choose what your request is related to. A copy of legal notice will be sent to the Chilling Effects project (http://www.chillingeffects.org/)

Specify the nature of your request and other things which will be asked. After answering the questions, they will provide you the link of a complaint form to submit your request. If you can’t find it, click on the link given below:

This form is for reporting alleged copyright infringement. Fill the following parts –

  • PART 1: Complainant’s Information.
  • PART 2: Copyrighted Work.
  • PART 3: Sworn Statements
  • PART 4: Signature

PART 1: Complainant’s Information.

Complainant's information

  • Name
  • Company’s Name
  • Full Legal Name of the Copyright Holder
  • e-Mail Address
  • Country of Residence

PART 2: Copyrighted Work.

Your Copyrighted Work

  • Specify your work and the URL where it could be seen.
  • Describe your work.
  • Specify the location (i.e. URL) at which your work has been copied.

PART 3: Sworn Statements

  • Read the statements and check the box to confirm.

PART 4: Signature

  • Date
  • Digital Signature (i.e. Your Full Name)

Now click on “SUBMIT” button. After submitting your request you will receive a conformation e-mail on the specified e-mail address from Google DMCA.
